Move Over, Solar!
Chagrin Falls, OH (May 20, 2010)-Living in Northeast Ohio presents a host of weather-related challenges. The winter takes its toll on us, so when summer rolls around, most everyone is ready to celebrate with some well-deserved outdoor living. While Cleveland has its share of fair days, however, we are generally not blinded by sunshine from June to September. The lack of sunshine means those solar lights, which are designed to illuminate the great outdoors without wiring and electricity, might not live up to your expectations.
Wireless Environment, a Cleveland-based company that manufactures battery-operated lighting solutions, felt that poor solar lighting was detracting from sustainability efforts and discouraging to people who were trying to maintain eco-friendly habits while enjoying summer evenings al fresco.
"Cleveland ranks #216 out of 251 for sunny days[1], " explains David Levine, CEO and founding partner of Wireless Environment. "That means that solar lights don't have a lot of exposure to full sun, which reduces their effectiveness." Many people who install solar lights instead of traditionally wired products in an attempt to conserve energy find that, without a full charge, the lights work erratically-some go on, some don't-and discharge a weak, bluish light. The effects are disappointing to those trying to have a positive impact on our environment.
Mr Beams Path Lights, a product developed and manufactured by Wireless Environment, allows you to benefit from off-grid lighting with battery-powered technology. "The Path Lights are ideal as solar replacements," says Levine. "You can enjoy the same flexibility with our products as the solar; there are no wires and you simply position the lights to suit your needs." The lights are motion-sensitive. Similar to solar lighting, there is a "low-glow" feature that emits a soft light when darkness falls. As motion is detected (from up to 15' away), however, the LED lights brighten automatically, illuminating your path.
There is a full product line of IP44 -rated (weatherproof) light fixtures available at www.mrbeams.com. All lights are indoor/outdoor and some feature a remote control option for additional convenience.
While Wireless Environment can't guarantee the quality of your summer nights, they can ensure that you'll have quality lighting.
