There is a good blog on GreenBiz.com by Michael Kanellos called 10 Predictions for Cleantech and Sustainability in 2012. We believe in number 7 "LED Inch Towards Acceptance". We think products targeting the right applications will start to drive demand. The blog points out that there are certain end customers that will lead in realizing the return on investment on buying LED products for new construction and retrofits.
At Mr Beams, we believe that the market for wireless lighting (ie battery powered lighting with wireless controls like motion sensors and RF) will continue to grow. An example of one of our products that LED technology enables is our Home Power Outage Lighting System. The product is application specific and is effective in providing power failure lighting for an extended period of time off of batteries because of the low power consumption and high efficiency of LEDs turning electricity from batteries into light.
